Lights Out: Sea Turtle Nesting Gathering

Lights Out is a local island gathering marking the start of sea turtle nesting season, held in partnership with the Coastal Wildlife Club, to raise awareness about how artificial lighting impacts nesting sea turtles and hatchlings. Held on the beach, this event brings the community together to celebrate and protect one of our most iconic coastal visitors.

This is a BYOC (bring your own chair) event. Food will be provided. Learn how simple lighting choices make a big difference for sea turtles, enjoy time with neighbors, and help kick off nesting season with purpose and care.

Palm Island Estates Association, Inc. is a voluntary, non-profit civic association of property owners on Knight Island, Palm Island, Don Pedro Island and Thornton Key. It was originally incorporated in 1980 “for the preservation of the natural environment and ecology of Knight and Don Pedro Islands.”

Today, its mission is to promote cooperation among all property owners, to offer a representative voice in civic and community affairs and to provide assistance and improvement to the islands.
