Sand Castle Contest
Despite the threat of rain, this year’s Sandcastle Contest was a wild success! Around 80 people came through to join the fun, with 19 groups officially signed in—representing more than 60 participants. Roughly 80% were age 10 or older, and about 60% were over 20 years old. Most were homeowners or guests of homeowners, with just a few enthusiastic renters and extended island family members joining the mix.
The creativity on display was next-level. David wowed the crowd with a massive octopus and an entire sandcastle city. Other standout entries included a beautifully decorated starfish, a hammerhead shark, a hippo emerging from the sand, a detailed pyramid, a stunning mermaid, and several patriotic creations.
The fun continued with a spirited pie-eating contest, where about a dozen brave participants dove in head-first while an energetic crowd cheered them on.
Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate island life with a little sand, sun, and friendly competition!
